The Terralift uses a long narrow probe and an integral pneumatic hammer to penetrate the soil to depths of 3 to 6 feet.

It then forces air into the soil at a controllable rate, fracturing the soil.

This creates a network of fissures and cracks which breaks up the biomat that is formed on the walls of the trenches and loosens the compacted soil in the drain field area.

Using a second tank and parallel system, air and polystyrene pellets are injected into the fissures and cracks that have been opened, thus maintaining the passages for the percolation of water away from the trenches.

The operation is then repeated every 4 to 6 feet around the all the drainfield trenches.

​

Because air tends to follow the path of least resistance, both the air and pellets will move horizontally and vertically upward through the soil.

The pellets keep the air and water passages open to ensure proper draining on a long term basis.
